Boost your Self Esteem – Ten Step Plan
If you are having problems in life then it can help if you try to improve your levels of self-esteem. Having high levels of self esteem will mean that you feel good about yourself and are proud of what you can do. This in turn will help you to think positively, deal with stress, and boost life in so many other ways.

- Identify and be proud of what you are really good at and enjoy doing and be happy with this. Also realise that you don’t have to be good at everything.
- Try new things. Don’t worry about failing or being ‘not good’. Live is so rich and varied and one of its joys if trying new things. If its not for new, then no worries. Enjoy the experience, accept its not for your and move onto something else. If you do enjoy it, then do it some more and don’t let anyone persuade you not to.
- Always try your best, and don’t be shy about celebrating when you are successful.
- Don’t be afraid to ask for help. Please understand that people who seem to be good at everything, are not really. But they do probably have no problem in asking people to help them understand things that don’t make sense to them, or to get coaching to make them better at things they love.
- Join a support group. If you feel you have bigger problems, find the support of people who have the same problems and learn from them and support them.
- Volunteer to help in your community. There are people who are having a worse time than you. You can help them.
- Be prepared to take control of your life, indeed seek out ways to control your life. If you have a clear vision of what you want from your life, no matter what it is (as long as it is legal!), then you can achieve it. Just start the journey today and get there by small steps every day.
- Don be afraid to tell people what you want. Your views and opinions are as good as anyone else’s. If you feel strongly about something, or what something to happen, don’t be shy. You will be surprised what will happen.
- Feel good about how you look. I will say this only once, ‘You do not have to conform to the idealised image portrayed by the models and the pop stars.’ You will be far more attractive it you learn to feel good about yourself and portray confidence in your appearance. Focus on your good bits, tell people to go @@@@ if they are worried about your not so good bits! Confidence and attitude are ultimately more attractive and long lasting than good looks.
- If you still find that you are not feeling good about yourself, talk to your parents, a counselor, or someone you can trust. Talking about things is the first step to solving them.
